Fire Destroys Quake Relief Trailer
An earthquake relief trailer parked behind St. Francis of Assisi Church in Fillmore burned to the ground Saturday afternoon, authorities said.
Roger Campbell, a city councilman and assistant chief of Fillmore’s volunteer Fire Department, said firefighters were able to stop the blaze from spreading to the church and other relief trailers parked nearby.
But by the time firefighters arrived at the scene in the 1000 block of Ventura Street, the burning structure was beyond saving, Campbell said.
No one was injured in the blaze. Campbell said the Fire Department had not yet determined the cause of the fire or the value of the property destroyed.
Church officials could not be reached for comment late Saturday.
