Associated Press
RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. —
A train slammed into a van carrying five people returning from a funeral, killing four passengers and injuring a fifth.
The van was on the tracks Saturday as the freight train sped through during strong winds and rain. The crossing gate was broken, but police did not know if the van had crashed through it or if it had been ripped off by the wind.
The victims, ranging in age from 4 to 34, had been at the funeral of a 16-year-old friend who committed suicide Wednesday. The crash was under investigation.
