BALDWIN PARK: A 15-year-old Baldwin Park boy was killed and his friend was injured in a shooting Sunday night. Javier Pasqual died about 7 p.m., sheriff’s deputies said. His friend, Robert Soto, 15, was taken to Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center, where he was listed in serious condition. The boys were riding their bicycles on Bess Avenue when a car pulled alongside them. A passenger asked the pair a question and shot them with a handgun, hitting the boys several times in the upper torso. Authorities believe the shooting may have been gang-related.

EL MONTE: A 17-year-old Covina girl was killed and a 35-year-old man was wounded Saturday morning in a gang-related shooting. Margaret Magana was shot at 3:40 a.m. as she stood in front of a house in the 11500 block of Modena Court during a party. The 35-year-old man was taken to Methodist Hospital of Southern California, where he was listed in stable condition with three gunshot wounds to the chest. Sheriff’s deputies had no details about his identity. Three men approached the two, yelled a gang motto, shot them and ran away, deputies said.

EL MONTE: An El Monte bar manager was shot and two people were injured in a shooting Monday morning. Two men entered El Rojo bar in the 12200 block of Valley Boulevard at 12:05 a.m. and ordered patrons to remain still. The men then fired several shots. The bar manager, Maximiano Fernandez, 54, was listed in guarded but stable condition at Queen of the Valley Hospital after being shot in the torso, police said. Two other people were pistol-whipped. They were treated at local hospitals and released. Police did not know of a motive and the men are still at large.

GLENDORA: A 3-year-old Glendora girl died Friday morning after she was accidentally hit by a car driven by her father. Andrea Tellez died at 11 a.m. at Foothill Presbyterian Hospital, an hour after the accident. Her father, Jimmy Tellez, was backing out of the driveway of the home in the 300 block of South Pennsylvania Avenue just before 10 a.m. as Andrea was playing in the front yard. Andrea apparently ran into the path of her father’s 1984 Ford LTD, police said.

LA PUENTE: A 40-year-old La Puente man was killed and a 53-year-old La Puente man was seriously injured Sunday night when a gunman entered a bar where they were playing pool and shot them. Terry McEachern died at Hank’s Pizza, Beer and Pool in the 800 block of North Sunset Avenue at about 11:45 p.m., sheriff’s deputies said. Ruben J. Vasquez was taken to a local hospital, where he was listed in serious condition, deputies said. The two men were playing pool when a man entered the bar, walked up to them and started an argument. Then, without warning or reason, deputies said, the man fired two rounds, striking both victims in the upper torso. The gunman is still at large.

MONROVIA: The body of a man, whose identity was not released pending notification of relatives, was found lying in the street between two cars in the 500 block of East Foothill Boulevard at 5:35 a.m. Tuesday, sheriff’s deputies said. No further information was available.

POMONA: A 40-year-old San Dimas man jumped to his death from a freeway overpass Monday morning. David William Ryall died at 6:45 a.m. after jumping off an overpass into westbound lanes of the San Bernardino (10) Freeway. Ryall was then hit by a car. Authorities said it was unclear whether Ryall was killed by the jump or by the car.

UPLAND: A 16-year-old Claremont girl, a 14-year-old Fontana girl and a 17-year-old Alta Loma girl died in a car accident Saturday night. Betty Kuo, 16, a boarding student at Vivian Webb School, and friends Nancy Wang and Jennifer Tsai were killed at 7 p.m. on 16th Street. The victims were passengers in a car driven by a 17-year-old girl who was traveling east on 16th Street, police said. The driver, whose name was not released, apparently turned in front of a car driving in the opposite direction. The driver told police that she lost control of the car and that her brakes failed.
