The planned departure of the Rams to St. Louis recalls a meeting in 1967 between Ram owner Dan Reeves and an agent for UCLA quarterback Gary Beban, a Heisman Trophy winner and the team’s second-round draft choice.

The agent detailed a long list of demands and then told Reeves, “That’s it. You know how to reach me. I’m in the Chicago phone book.”

“Congratulations,” Reeves replied dryly.
