HUNTINGTON BEACH : Trustees Ban Real and Toy Weapons
- Share via
Carry a toy weapon and you face possible expulsion from any public high school in Huntington Beach, Fountain Valley and Westminster.
The Huntington Beach Union High School District board on Tuesday night gave unanimous approval to a new policy on both real and fake weapons.
District officials noted that many toy guns and knives are so realistic that they can easily be used to threaten or terrorize people at schools.
The newly adopted policy says that students are prohibited “from possessing weapons, replicas of weapons or dangerous instruments of any kind in school buildings, on school grounds or buses, or at any school-related or school-sponsored activity away from school.”
Students caught with such weapons can be either suspended or expelled.
The school board unanimously voted for the new policy on its second and final reading, and there was no discussion or debate.
