Drive it straight, as Phil Mickelson did Friday, and the Starr Pass golf course can yield low scores. Drive it crooked, as John Daly did, and you’ll get the weekend off.

Mickelson shot a five-under-par 66 to complete the first two rounds of the Northern Telecom Open in Tucson at 12-under 131, one shot better than Jim Gallagher Jr.

Daly, who accidentally hit a marshal with a tee shot, shot a 69 and missed the cut. The fan was bloodied, but otherwise unhurt.
