The partially clad body of a man who had been dead about 48 hours was found Sunday by a group of youths in a brushy area behind South Coast Medical Center, police said.

The man, who carried no identification, was found about 2:50 p.m. lying in a large bush about 25 yards off of Scenic Drive.

Three boys, ages 12 to 15, who had been hiking in the area, made the discovery, said Sgt. Jenny Jones of the Laguna Beach Police Department.

Jones said there was no obvious sign of trauma, but the death is being called “suspicious” pending an autopsy.

The victim was described as a black man between 40 and 50 and in good physical condition. Police had no further details.

In an unrelated incident, a woman found floating Saturday in the water off Bird Rock Beach near downtown remained unidentified Sunday, a police spokesman said.
