Simi Valley Man Struck by Car, Killed
A 56-year-old Simi Valley man was struck by a car and killed Monday night as he was crossing Los Angeles Avenue in the light rain.
Simi Valley Police Sgt. Jeff Malgren said David Livingstone of Simi Valley was driving westbound in the 1600 block of Los Angeles Avenue near Duncan Street at 7:07 p.m. when he saw the pedestrian slowly crossing the street.
“He hit his brakes and wasn’t able to avoid the collision,” Malgren said. He said Livingstone passed sobriety tests administered after the accident. Police said the investigation was continuing. No charges were filed Monday night.
The pedestrian was taken to Simi Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead in the emergency room. His name was withheld Monday night pending notification of relatives. Livingstone was not hurt.
