SAN MARINO : 2 Teen-Agers Arraigned in Graduation Party Slayings

A boy and a girl were arraigned Thursday in Pasadena Superior Court on murder charges in the slaying of two youths at a high school graduation party in San Marino last summer.

Bang Ung, 17, of San Gabriel, and Mia Quiocho, 16, of Rosemead, entered not guilty pleas in Pasadena Superior Court in the shooting deaths of Dennis Buan, 18, of South Pasadena, and David Hang, 15, of San Marino. The two boys were slain June 5 when gang members opened fire at a party in the back yard of a home on Lombardy Place, authorities said.

Although minors, Ung and Quiocho will be tried as adults. The district attorney’s office plans to combine their case with that of three other youths--David Cuong, 18, of Monterey Park, Peter Chau, 18, of Rosemead and Sam Ha, 19, a Los Angeles County resident--also charged with the murders.

All five defendants will return to court March 17, but because of the number of attorneys involved, the trial may not start until next year, said a defense attorney involved in the case.
