Body of Woman, 21, Is Identified
Police on Friday identified a body found in Sun Valley early Thursday as that of a 21-year-old Pacoima woman.
Dora Maravilla was identified through her fingerprints, said Los Angeles Police Lt. Joe Garcia. Her body was found dumped alongside La Tuna Canyon Road by motorists. She bore tattoos reading “Nancy” and “Jose.”
Garcia said Maravilla’s nickname was Nancy, but he does not know who Jose was. He said Maravilla’s family said she had not come home after going out Wednesday night.
There were no visible signs of trauma on the body, Garcia said, and police are awaiting an autopsy to discover the cause of death.
“Since we don’t have a cause of death, we’re not going along the lines of a homicide,” Garcia said, adding that Maravilla could have died of natural causes.
