Readers Say Raiders Need New Philosophy More Than New Coach
Al Davis can once again choreograph his turnstile coaching staff routine, but until he cremates his antiquated playbook it doesn’t matter whom he places in coaches’ meeting rooms. The results will remain status quo--a 9-7 team with 12-4 talent with a .500 record since migrating south.
Look what Mike Shanahan is creating offensively with the 49ers. As long as Al Davis runs the show, the curtain continues to lower.

The Raiders’ search for a so-called head coach continues, and one wonders if a head coach is what Al Davis wants.
Neither Mike Shanahan nor Art Shell had any coaching experience anywhere, nor did Tom Flores on the professional level.
When interviewed two years ago, Davis said, “On this team, we don’t have an offensive coordinator,” although Terry Robiskie was calling his plays.
The question is, will the proud dinosaur be willing to give up control and get the Raiders a take-charge head coach? Or will it still be, “Just lose, baby?”
