Crash Into Pole Kills Northridge Man

A Northridge man was killed when his car skidded over a curb and broke a power pole Monday, police said.
Ara Awanis Ohanis, 21, was driving his convertible north on Vanalden Avenue near Rosita Street about 2 a.m. when the car ran off the road, over the curb, and into the pole, said Los Angeles Police Officer Tim Meicher.
The car rolled over and struck a concrete mailbox, Meicher said.
Ohanis was taken to Northridge Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 3:41 a.m., Meicher said.
