From Associated Press

Vin Baker played like the All-Star he had just become Tuesday, and the Dallas Mavericks played like the team they were before getting Jason Kidd.

Baker, named to the All-Star roster earlier in the day, made a three-point basket with 2.8 seconds to play to boost the Bucks to a 107-105 victory over Dallas on Tuesday night in Milwaukee.

“It’s been a great day. I’m not going to sleep. I’m going to stay awake until the next game,” said Baker, who finished with 20 points and 13 rebounds.

Glenn Robinson added a season-high 38 points as the Bucks snapped a two-game losing streak and sent the Mavericks to their eighth loss in a row.

Dallas played without Kidd, its rookie point guard and floor leader, who has been hospitalized because of flu. His absence was never more apparent than in the fourth quarter, when the Mavericks made only six of 23 shots to the Bucks’ 12 of 19.

San Antonio 97, Sacramento 96--Dennis Rodman tipped in the rebound of David Robinson’s miss with eight seconds to play at Sacramento, where the Spurs finished an 11-4 January.

Rodman, who had 10 of his 19 rebounds in the first quarter, finished with six points.

Houston 86, Denver 74--Hakeem Olajuwon scored 25 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as the Rockets extended cold-shooting Denver’s road misery to 10 losses in 11 games.

Charlotte 97, Washington 88--The Hornets built an 18-point lead and then hung on to win at Landover, Md.

Tyrone Bogues scored 20 points, four short of his career high, and Hersey Hawkins had 17 points and 11 rebounds for Charlotte, which finished at 11-4 in January, the best record for a month in the franchise’s history.

New York 90, Golden State 87--Derek Harper made his seventh three-point basket with 23.7 seconds to play at New York for the Knicks, who made 13 of 25 three-point shots to win for the 16th time in their last 18 games.

NBA Notes

Golden State had only nine players available for its game against New York because of injuries and because rookie forward Clifford Rozier was suspended for missing a morning practice. . . . Philadelphia 76er center Shawn Bradley, injured in Monday night’s loss to Seattle, has a sprained right knee and is listed as day-to-day.
