Transportation Panel Elects New Leaders
A county panel that oversees the region’s transportation chose a new chairman and vice chairman Friday.
Camarillo City Councilman David Smith, who has served for four years on the Ventura County Transportation Commission, was elected chairman, and Frank Schillo, who was recently elected to the Ventura County Board of Supervisors, was appointed vice chairman.
Smith replaces former Chairwoman Vicky Howard, who served on the commission for five years.
The seven-member panel of elected officials and citizen representatives meets monthly to set transportation policy and dole out about $64 million a year in government funding.
