At 5 feet 5, Kimoto isn’t one of the more imposing players, but Coach Nick Bartlett says she’s among the toughest, not at all afraid to take the ball to the hoop. “They knock her down but she jumps right up,” he said. Last week, she helped knock down two top teams. Kimoto had 18 points, seven assists and five steals in a 61-46 victory over Esperanza, ranked 10th at the time, and 12 points, six assists and seven steals in a 64-61 victory over then-No. 5 Marina. The victories boosted the Oilers’ record to 13-10, 3-5 in the Sunset League.

Basketball

Erin Avila

* Fountain Valley, senior. Had 17 points and six rebounds and stole a pass, got fouled and made two free throws to give the Barons a 50-49 victory over Marina.

* Rosary, junior. Scored 22 of her 24 points in the second half to lead the Royals to a 61-48 victory over Westminster. She also had 12 rebounds and five steals in the game. Scored 13 in 73-43 victory over Saddleback.

Soccer

Jill Krupoff

* University, junior. Had six saves in 0-0 tie with second-place Laguna Hills and seven in a 3-0 victory over Laguna Beach. She hasn’t allowed a goal during league play.

Demerese Salter

* Sunny Hills, junior. Scored on a penalty kick in a 1-0 victory over Troy and had three goals in a 6-0 victory over Sonora as the Lancers moved into first place in the Freeway League.
