Two men were in custody today for allegedly firing on cars exiting the Golden State Freeway in Glendale, police said Wednesday.

No one was injured in the incident, which began when two officers on patrol heard shots ringing out near the Colorado Avenue off-ramp about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, police spokesman Chahe Keuroghelian said.

Glendale police and California Highway Patrol cordoned off the area, and a dog was brought in to sniff through the brush near the on-ramp for the shooters, Keuroghelian said.

About 9:45 p.m., the dogs found Jose Luis Herarra, 29, and Javier Rico Olvera, 31, both of Glendale, hiding in the bushes, Keuroghelian said. Also found on the scene were at least eight shells from a .22 caliber handgun, but no guns, Keuroghelian said.

The men were arrested for shooting on occupied vehicles, Keuroghelian said. He said he does not know why they fired the shots. They claim someone else is responsible.
