CITY SOCCER PLAYOFF ROUNDUP : Bucciarelli Kicks 2 in Grant Win

Striker Nicole Bucciarelli scored her 45th and 46th goals as Grant High beat El Camino Real, 3-0, Wednesday in a 4-A Division first-round match at Grant.

Bucciarelli, the City’s leading scorer, scored in the 27th and 65 minutes.

Defensive midfielder Kim Johnson scored her first goal of the season from 40 yards midway through the second half.

The Lancers (16-3-1), undefeated in their last 16 matches, outshot the Conquistadores, 12-0, and will play at San Pedro on Tuesday.

Chatsworth 4, Narbonne 0--Melinda George, Ember Lee and Kim Pickup scored second-half goals as the Chancellors (16-1-1) beat the visiting Gauchos (7-5-1) in a 4-A match.

Lee also scored in the first half for Chatsworth, which rarely allowed Narbonne to cross midfield.

Top-seeded Chatsworth will play host to fourth-seeded Granada Hills on Tuesday.

Granada Hills 3, Palisades 0--The Highlanders (10-2-1) beat the fifth-seeded Dolphins (9-2-1) in a 4-A match at Granada Hills High.

Cleveland 3, Garfield 0-- Bree Blumstein, Patty Castro and Ariane White scored first-half goals as the second-seeded Cavaliers (7-6) beat the visiting Bulldogs (7-4-1) in a 3-A match.

BOYS

Birmingham 3, Poly 2--Gabriel Ortega scored his second goal with 10 minutes to play as the Braves (15-3-4) beat the visiting Parrots in a second-round match.

Poly (9-5-4) led, 2-1, at halftime on a pair of goals by David Hernandez, but Ortega scored midway through the second half before getting the decisive goal.

Birmingham’s first goal was scored by Alvin Cruz and Brave goalie Basil Grant made eight saves. Poly goalie Ruben Juarez stopped 12 shots.

Sixth-seeded Birmingham is at third-seeded Reseda on Friday.

Fremont 2, Chatsworth 1--The Pathfinders (13-3-2) scored in the 18th minute of overtime to beat the visiting Chancellors (9-5-2) in a second-round match.
