No. 1 Santa Ana Mater Dei 79, Palmdale Highland 50--Schea Cotton had 33 points, 14 rebounds and four blocked shots to lead the Monarchs (30-1) to a Southern Section I-A quarterfinal victory over Highland (22-7) at Ocean View High.
No. 2 Dominguez 64, San Bernardino Pacific 49--Kenny Brunner scored 21 points, making all six field-goal attempts in the second half, and also had eight assists to lead Dominguez (27-2) to a victory over Pacific (23-5) in a Southern Section II-A quarterfinal at Compton High.
No. 3 Inglewood 50, Katella 42--Paul Pierce scored 19 points for the Sentinels (26-3) in a Southern Section II-A quarterfinal victory over Katella (23-4) at Cypress College.
No. 9 Nogales 83, Rialto 65--Shomario Richard had 17 assists and scored 22 points to lead the Nobles (25-3) over the Knights (19-9) in a Southern Section Division I-A quarterfinal at Rowland High.
No. 10 Artesia 67, Bishop Montgomery 39--The Pioneers (24-3) led, 25-19, at halftime and out-scored the Knights (17-8), 20-8, in the third quarter to win a Southern Section III-AA quarterfinal at Gahr High. Dajuan Wilson had 15 points and eight rebounds and James Lee had 14 points and six rebounds for Artesia.
No. 13 Glendora 55, Loyola 53--With four seconds left, Greg Jacobsen tipped-in his missed shot to give the Tartans (26-3) the victory over the Cubs (16-10) in a Southern Section Division I-A quarterfinal at Glendale College.
No. 16 Pasadena 61, Santa Barbara 58--Gordon Scott made six free throws in the last 1:05 to seal a Southern Section II-AA quarterfinal victory for the Bulldogs (22-6) over the Dons (20-8) at Occidental College. Scott scored 26 points

In another game:
Duarte’s 96-94 double overtime victory over Santa Paula (23-3) in the Southern Section III-A quarterfinals was marred by several fights at the game’s conclusion. After Eric Holmes made the winning basket for Duarte (23-4) as time expired, fans from both sides stormed the court and several fights broke out.
