A teen-ager accused of shooting to death a Pasadena girl at a Valentine’s Day party has surrendered to police, authorities said.
While appearing at Pasadena Municipal Court on an unrelated matter, Angel Garcia, 18, turned himself in Friday for the shooting death of Gilda Martinez, 16, police said Saturday.
Lt. Tom Oldfield said detectives believe that Garcia is the shooter who fired three or four shots into a group of party-goers. One bullet struck Martinez and killed her. Another teen-ager was shot and two others were stabbed during the incident but none of those injuries were serious, police said. Police believe the shooting was a result of a gang fight.
Two other suspects, Martinez’s boyfriend, Henry Portillo, 18, and a juvenile whose name was not released, are believed to be involved in the shooting and are being sought, Oldfield said.
