SAN LUIS OBISPO--You'll need plenty of napkins and a hearty appetite for the 10th annual San Luis Obispo Rib Cook-Off, March 2 on Higuera Street. As part of the Farmers Market, the competition features Hot and Spicy Ribs, Beef Ribs, Pork Ribs and People's Choice. Music and kids' entertainment also offered. SANTA BARBARA--The 10th annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival offers a cinematic feast in five downtown venues, March 3-12. Highlights include the presentation of the Modern Master Award to Michael Douglas, March 4; "An Evening With Chazz Palminteri," with a screening of "A Bronx Tale," March 9, and "A Salute to Jessica Lange," with "Blue Sky," March 11. SAN CLEMENTE--Arts and crafts, coupled with fresh produce, are offered in abundance at the Arts and Crafts Fair, March 5 on Avenida del Mar. SOLVANG--Danish cuisine and California fare are showcased at the third annual Taste of Solvang, March 17-19. SAN DIEGO--"Orchid Safari," the San Diego County Orchid Society's 49th annual Orchid Show and Plant Sale, is March 17-19 at the Scottish Rite Memorial Center, 1895 Camino del Rio South. More than 25,000 different kinds of orchids are the stars in competitions, classes and displays. 6-10 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday; 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday. $3 in advance; $4 at the door; free for kids under 12.
