Rainy Weather Is Expected to Linger Awhile

The scattered rain showers and drizzle that hit Ventura County on Thursday are expected to continue today and through the weekend, said officials with the National Weather Service.

According to meteorologist Robert Baruffaldi, the region should experience light rain today with short periods of sunshine.

“Friday is expected to be our best day for the next three days,” Baruffaldi said. “After that, things look pretty gloomy, and it doesn’t look like that we will see any sun for a while.”

Baruffaldi added that there is a possibility of heavy rains on Saturday, when a huge mass of clouds loaded with tropical mist is expected to hit Ventura County.

Officials predicted that the clouds, which are coming from the north of the Equator, will leave the county, moving east, by late Monday.

The drizzle and slippery roads contributed to a few minor accidents across the county Thursday. In a more serious crash, a car and a motorcycle collided at the intersection of Janss Road and Windsor Drive in Thousand Oaks at 6:25 p.m., sending one person to Los Robles Regional Medical Center. The injured person’s name and condition were not available, and sheriff’s deputies did not say whether the crash was rain related.

In addition, officials with the county’s flood control office said the scattered showers on Thursday were too light to cause any flooding or mudslides.
