The ringleader of a large-scale welfare fraud operation was sentenced Friday to six years in state prison and ordered to pay more than $155,000 in fines and restitution.

Myron Gary Larkin Sr., 50, of Woodland Hills was charged in April, 1992, in connection with a ring that had operated since at least 1987, Deputy Dist. Atty. Michael Cabral said.

Larkin assisted numerous people in filing false applications for various types of government aid, including county general relief and federal disability payments, the prosecutor said.
