QVC Inc. Names President: The West Chester, Pa.-based company said it promoted one of its top executives to take over, following Chairman and Chief Executive Barry Diller’s departure in the wake of QVC’s buyout last month by Comcast Corp. and Tele-Communications Inc. Douglas S. Briggs, president of QVC Electronic Retailing and executive vice president of QVC Inc., was named president, a position that had been vacant since Michael Boyd retired in 1993. Briggs, who had been responsible for running the company’s core business, Home Shopping Network, will now take charge of the other divisions, including Q2, the second home-shopping channel, and international operations.
