COSTA MESA : Encouraging Youths to Wear Bicycle Helmets
It’s a law that started this year: Everybody younger than 18 has to wear a helmet while riding a bicycle, whether cruising in the street or along a public path. The fine is $25 for failing to do so.
Recent findings indicate that almost 18,000 children in California annually suffer from head injuries due to bicycle spills, according to the publication. In some cases, hospital visits were warranted. Other studies have concluded that wearing a helmet reduces the possibility of a head injury by 85%.
