VENICE : LAPD Officer Fatally Shoots Burglary Suspect
- Share via
A Los Angeles police officer shot and killed a Venice burglary suspect Wednesday afternoon after the man allegedly drew a gun on officers who had surrounded him, a spokesman said.
The suspect, who was not identified pending notification of his family, was spotted by members of the department’s Venice Beach patrol as he emerged from a home he had apparently just burgled near Wavecrest Court and Pacific Avenue, said spokesman Don Cox.
As police gave chase, the man ran into another building and hid. Officers surrounded the house and sent in police search dogs, who flushed out the suspect.
“He approached officers on the perimeter, and he was apparently carrying a gun, and that’s when an officer-involved shooting occurred,” Cox said.
