From Associated Press

The last time Utah played Dallas, the young Mavericks dealt the Jazz its worst loss of the season.

Not this time. Jeff Hornacek and Antoine Carr scored 19 points apiece at Salt Lake City and the Jazz coasted to a 114-87 victory Wednesday night, its sixth in a row.

When Utah finished a 32-12 spurt with 6:58 left in the third quarter, it held a 20-point lead, and Coach Jerry Sloan kept Karl Malone and Hornacek on the bench in the fourth quarter.

“We were concerned about having the same kind of game we had when (Dallas) beat us down there,” said Sloan, whose team lost to the Mavericks, 119-98, on Feb. 4.

No worry.

Jamal Mashburn led the Mavericks with 17 points.

Detroit 114, Washington 105--Allan Houston scored 29 points and Grant Hill 25 as the Pistons won for only the sixth time in 30 games on the road.

New York 108, Boston 100--The Knicks got 19 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists from Anthony Mason in beating the Celtics for the second night in a row, this time in Boston.

New Jersey 115, Philadelphia 108--Kenny Anderson scored 30 points and Derrick Coleman 25 to lead the Nets in an overtime victory at Philadelphia.

Atlanta 99, Denver 88--Ken Norman had a season-high 33 points and eight rebounds at Atlanta as the Hawks broke Denver’s four-game winning streak.

Seattle 118, Minnesota 104--Detlef Schrempf went five for six from three-point range and scored 27 points for the SuperSonics in a victory at Minneapolis.
