The Pittsburgh Penguins broke out of an offensive slump against a goaltender who usually causes them problems.

Larry Murphy had two goals and two assists and Jaromir Jagr ended a four-game scoring drought with three assists as the Penguins defeated the Buffalo Sabres, 6-2, at Pittsburgh, ending the Sabres’ four-game unbeaten streak.

Sabre goalie Dominik Hasek gave up more than three goals for the first time in 34 games.


John Vanbiesbrouck made 27 saves for the Florida Panthers in a 2-0 victory over the Boston Bruins at Boston. . . . Felix Potvin stopped 28 shots for the Toronto Maple Leafs in a 2-2 tie with the Chicago Blackhawks at Toronto. . . .
