From Associated Press

Former King defenseman Paul Coffey had a goal and an assist for the Detroit Red Wings in a 2-1 victory over the St. Louis Blues Sunday night at St. Louis.

Coffey, 33, a 15-year veteran, is the NHL’s career leader among defensemen in goals, assists and points, and now he’s playing good defense too.

“He’s playing very well defensively this year,” said Red Wing Coach Scotty Bowman. “He had to kill penalties tonight because we only had five defensemen, and he has played good defense all year.”
