SIMI VALLEY : Woman Kidnaped, Robbed at Gunpoint

Share

A Simi Valley woman was robbed by a man who drew a gun on her after she answered her front door and then drove her to a local bank, forcing her to withdraw cash, police said.

Elidia Salazar, 35, answered a knock at her Clover Street home on Monday afternoon and found herself face-to-face with the gunman, Simi Valley Police Sgt. Mike King said.

After the man took valuables from Salazar’s house, he said he wanted more, police said. The robber forced Salazar into a car driven by a second man, who took them to a nearby bank. Once there, Salazar was escorted inside and ordered to cash a check for an undisclosed amount, King said.

Neighbors on Clover Street said Tuesday they were shocked by the robbery.

“We never lock our doors at night,” said one nine-year resident of the neighborhood. “I’ve never heard of anything like this happening before.”

Other neighbors on the street said the robbery sounded totally out of character for the city.

“You never hear about this kind of thing in Simi Valley,” said Dale Hunt, who lives nearby.

Police said they have no leads in the incident.

The two men were last seen headed northbound on Sycamore Drive in a newer model gray or blue sedan. Anyone with any information should contact Simi Valley police at 583-6950.
