PACOIMA — The body of a fetus was found Sunday in front of an apartment building in Pacoima, prompting a door-to-door police search for information about its origin, authorities said.
“It is a mystery where it came from,” said Sgt. Charles Evans of the Los Angeles Police Department.
The lifeless body--its sex and race indistinguishable--was found in front of the apartment complex at 12700 Van Nuys Blvd. by a resident at 9:44 a.m., Evans said. “Officers estimated that it was between four and five months” along, Evans said.
Evans said the fetus was not wrapped in anything and neighbors did not hear anything unusual.
“It’s a shock,” said a woman who lives on the second floor of the complex. “I think it’s awful. The woman should have been more responsible.”
