WEST HOLLYWOOD : Council Follows Pasadena, Regulates Ammo Sales

The West Hollywood City Council has become the second California city to pass a law regulating the sale of ammunition.
The law, co-sponsored by Mayor Abbe Land and Councilwoman Paul Koretz, was passed by the City Council Monday night. It will require ammunition vendors to register all ammunition sales, including buyers’ names and addresses.
Last month, Pasadena, in a controversial effort to curb gun crimes, became the first city in the nation to require gun shops to record the name, address and driver’s license number of anyone who buys ammunition. Failure to do so is a misdemeanor.
“The passage of this ordinance will break ground and provide support for other cities in our region, such as Pasadena, which are seeking to take action against violence in their communities,” Land said in a statement. “By acting together, we will make our region safer and pressure the state Legislature to enact meaningful gun control measures.”
