In other Golden West League games:

Ocean View 11, Saddleback 8--Jared De La Chica went three for four with an RBI and Jason Hoffman was three for five with three RBIs for Ocean View (4-5, 1-1).

Tustin 3, Santa Ana 2--Rick Gonzalez homered in the first and Jason Milliman (3-0) went the distance for the second time this season for Tustin (5-1-1, 2-0).

In the Empire League:

Cypress 4, Kennedy 3 (8)--Matt Shelton’s third single of the game drove in Brian Huskey with the winning run in the eighth inning for host Cypress (4-3, 2-0). Brian Flanagan struck out six in six innings and had two hits and an RBI for the Centurions.

Katella 11, Loara 8--Jason Stockstill hit a two-run home run in the second inning for host Katella (5-4, 2-0). Geno Ramirez added three hits and two RBIs and Sal Viramontes had two hits, including a triple, and three RBIs.

In the Freeway league:

Sonora 3, Buena Park 0--Marc Patino’s two-run single broke a scoreless tie in the sixth for host Sonora (8-0, 2-0). Ryan Owens (2-0) allowed three hits and struck out five for his first shutout of the season.

Sunny Hills 8, Fullerton 2--Scott Warkentin had two hits and three RBIs and Greg Garand struck out six in picking up the victory for host Sunny Hills (7-2, 2-0).

Troy 7, La Habra 4--Kevin Norcross hit a three-run home run in the third inning for host Troy (4-3, 1-1). Norcross allowed four runs and struck out eight in 6 1/3 innings to improve to 2-1 and senior Joe Frausto had two hits and two RBIs for the Warriors.

In the Garden Grove League:

La Quinta 7, Los Amigos 1--Joe Garcia (5-0) allowed two hits and struck out seven in five innings for host La Quinta (9-1-1, 1-0). Corey Fox had three RBIs for the Aztecs.

Pacifica 5, Rancho Alamitos 3--Frank Roberto went two for three, including a two-run home run, to lead Rancho Alamitos (2-4, 0-1). Pacifica is 4-4, 1-0.

In the Orange League:

Brea Olinda 9, Anaheim 1--Aaron Hough (2-0) pitched a five-hitter, striking out eight and walking one, and Todd Deck went two for four with an RBI for Brea Olinda (4-2, 2-0).

Magnolia 2, Western 1--Greg Young gave up one run on three hits and drove in the winning run for Magnolia (3-1, 2-0).

Valencia 6, Savanna 5--Joe Secoda had a two-run double and drove in three runs for the game, then took the mound in the seventh inning and got his first save. Jim DiDodo was four for four for Valencia, which had 16 hits.

In the Pacific Coast League:

Laguna Hills 3, Estancia 0--Tony Milo (4-1) went the distance, giving up only one hit, striking out six and went two for three to lead Laguna Hills (6-2, 2-0).

University 8, Costa Mesa 7--Randy Lukasiewicz went two for three with three runs batted in for University (4-5, 2-0), which led, 8-2, after four innings and held on for the victory.

In the Sea View League:

Corona del Mar 10, Newport Harbor 4--Reuben Gulledge hit a grand slam in Corona del Mar’s eight-run third inning. Myles Davis added four hits, including two doubles, and scored a run for the Sea Kings (4-2-1, 1-1). Newport Harbor fell to 4-3, 0-2.

Santa Margarita 7, El Toro 0--Mike Penney (2-0) pitched a five-hitter, striking out five and walking none, and also homered for the Eagles (4-4, 2-0).

In the South Coast League:

Dana Hills 4, Trabuco Hills 1--Scott Maynard (2-1) went the distance, giving up five hits and striking out seven to lead Dana Hills (5-3, 2-0). Matt Ralph had a single and a double and drove in a run, and John Morgan went two for three with two RBIs for Dana Hills. Ryan Poe pitched a complete-game seven-hitter for Trabuco Hills (1-1 in league).

Mater Dei 12, San Clemente 0--Mike Hessman hit a three-run home run in the fourth and later added a sacrifice fly and Mike Kolbach and Scott Daeley each went two for four for Mater Dei (5-2, 1-1).

In the Sunset League:

Huntington Beach 7, Esperanza 6--Brad Lineberger had two hits and an RBI and Jason Locklin drove in two runs for visiting Huntington Beach (2-0 in league). Jason Webb had two hits and scored once for Esperanza (1-1 in league).

Los Alamitos 4, Edison 2--Kevin Feterik allowed two runs and struck out four for visiting Los Alamitos (3-4, 1-1). Ron Aparicio struck out six and allowed two earned runs in his first start for Edison (2-4, 0-2).
