The Scene: Women in Film’s fourth annual Academy Awards-viewing party at the House of Blues. The co-sponsorship of the New Orleans Film and Video Commission dictated the Mardi Gras theme, which made for a fried-chicken-and-corn-bread buffet and lots of purple, green and yellow plastic beads.
Who Was There: Lee Grant and Joe Feury, Donna Mills, Rutger and Ineka Hauer and Steve Allen and Jayne Meadows. Oscar nominee Helen Mirren turned up well after midnight. Best Viewing Spot: The Founder’s Club top floor where there were comfy sofas. The most enthusiastic response was to Jessica Lange’s win for best actress.
Hollywood Moment: O.J. Simpson defense attorney Johnnie Cochran signing ceramic tiles for the Wall of Fame planned for a proposed Women in Film Center. “What movie is he starring in?” one onlooker murmured.
