UCI’s Humphrey Has Four-Shot Lead
Darren Humphrey of UC Irvine has a four-shot lead and his team is two strokes ahead after the first day of the 54-hole UC Irvine Anteater golf invitational Monday at Coto de Caza.
Humphrey had a two-under 69 in the morning then shot 73 in the afternoon for a 142. Todd Pence of BYU and Bob Conrad of Washington are four shots back at 146. Washington’s Ben Garner, a freshman from El Toro High, and Andrew Smeeth of Weber State are five shots back at 147.
UC Irvine has a total of 595. New Mexico State is second at 597 and San Diego State is third at 600. The final 18 holes are scheduled today.
