BASEBALL TOURNAMENT ROUNDUP : Brito Powers Cypress in Lions Tournament
Bob Brito hit two three-run homers as Cypress rolled to a 10-6 victory over Anaheim in the semifinals of the West Anaheim Lions tournament Tuesday at Glover Stadium in Anaheim.
Cypress (9-7) will play Sunny Hills, a 6-4 winner over Loara, in the finals at 7 p.m. tonight at Glover Stadium.
After three consecutive hits to open the third inning, the Centurions took a 3-1 lead on a single by Pat Murphy and a drag bunt by Bryan Huskey. One out later, Brito hit Enrique Mejia’s first pitch over the 370-foot sign in left field to put Cypress ahead, 6-1.
After Murphy singled in the sixth, Huskey sacrificed and Matt Shelton reached base on an error. Brito followed with his second home run, his ninth of the season. Mike Flanagan followed Brito with his third home run of the year.
