Obituaries : * Dean E. Nix; Former Truck Driver and Seabee
Dean E. Nix, a longtime Ventura resident, has died. He was 72.
Nix, who died Thursday in Bakersfield, was a truck driver who worked for various firms during a career that spanned 20 years, family members said. Prior to joining the trucking industry, Nix was a 12-year Navy Seabee veteran.
Nix, who was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon, and daughter Jeannette, is survived by sons Loren Nix of Ventura, Tim Nix of Oxnard and daughters Linda Nix of Ventura and Tammy Wescott and Teena Wescott, both of Bakersfield.
Nix is also survived by a brother, Butch Tuohy of Los Angeles, a sister, Teddie Nix of Arizona and 18 grandchildren.
A visitation will be held today at Joseph P. Reardon Funeral Home in Ventura from 4 to 7 p.m. and again Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Graveside services will be Thursday at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park in Ventura. Interment will follow.
