Share

Two days after pitcher Ted Silva’s no-hitter, Cal State Fullerton’s pitching staff was anything but dominating as the Titans fell, 8-7, Tuesday at Wichita State.

Titan starter John Mitchell was knocked out of the game in the third after giving up six runs on six hits and two walks. The Shockers (36-10), ranked seventh in the country by Baseball America, scored four times in the first inning on five hits.

Trailing, 6-5, in the fifth inning, the top-ranked Titans (39-7) took the lead on Robert Matos’ two-run homer, but relief pitcher Kimson Hollibaugh couldn’t stop Wichita in the bottom half, giving up a two-run triple to Chris Bauer to score the game-winner.
