John W. Madigan Elected CEO of Tribune Co.: Madigan, president and chief operating officer since May, 1994, will succeed Charles T. Brumback as chief executive of the Chicago-based media and entertainment company at the end of the month. Brumback, 66, has served as chairman and chief executive since Jan. 1, 1993, and will remain chairman until he retires Dec. 31. Brumback announced the move at the company’s annual meeting. Tribune publishes six daily newspapers, including the flagship Chicago Tribune.
