AGOURA : Restrictions Sought on Fantasy Island

Share

Responding to complaints from neighbors about loud noise, Los Angeles County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky introduced a motion Thursday that would restrict nighttime activities at the Fantasy Island restaurant and park.

A dozen people who live near the privately owned park showed up at the Board of Supervisors public hearing to oppose the park’s expansion plans, which would have included a motion picture studio, amphitheater, zoo, private camp and a health retreat at the 23-acre park.

Instead of getting permission to expand however, the park’s operator, Avihu Datner was told to limit activities at Fantasy Island, which features a restaurant and dance pavilion, as well as a gazebo on a lake, mood lighting and waterfalls.

The park, at 3130 Triunfo Canyon Road, is a popular location for weddings and bar mitzvahs.

Datner’s lawyer, Fred Gaines, said the park is willing to try to reach a compromise with the neighbors.
