LA PALMA : Ex-Councilman Says Library Can Be Saved
Former Councilman Larry Herman, who is a member of a task force studying ways to save the county branch library in the city, said this week he is optimistic about prospects.
“I think we’ll work out something,” Herman said. “I think what the (citizens’) committee is going to do is look at all the alternatives for keeping the library open, whether it’s through volunteers or city financing or forming a joint powers authority.”
The La Palma branch has been scheduled for closure as part of a countywide restructuring.
Members of the task force, which plans to make a recommendation to City Council in July, are Herman, Mary Anderson, Jay Goldberg, Glynda Rickard, Gloria Scanlon, Jessie Schuster and Cliff Ishii.
