PASADENA : Lead Tests Offered for Women and Children
Pasadena’s Public Health Department offers blood tests for children and pregnant women to detect lead poisoning that could cause irreparable brain damage.
The most common source of lead is paint in older homes. Lead poisoning can result from ingesting chips of paint containing lead or by being exposed to paint dust. The solder in some water pipes also contains lead.
Pasadena residents seeking testing should call the city’s Public Health Department at (818) 405-4391.
Residents elsewhere in the San Gabriel Valley should call the Los Angeles County Lead Program at (213) 738-2030 for the location of nearest lead-testing clinic.
