Girl, 5, Hit by Car, Critically Hurt in Newport
NEWPORT BEACH —
A 5-year-old girl was in critical condition Thursday after she ran in front of a car, police said.
About 5 p.m., the girl dashed into the street in the 1300 block of Santiago Drive. The driver braked but could not avoid her, police said.
The girl was airlifted to Western Medical Center-Santa Ana, where she was treated for scrapes and underwent CAT scans to determine if there were any internal injuries, police said.
The motorist was not cited, police said.
The child’s name was not released.
