Heckler, Bruguera Get to Agassi at German Open

From Staff and Wire Reports

Top-ranked Andre Agassi lost to Sergei Bruguera on Friday in the German Open tennis tournament, 6-3, 6-1, then left the clay court at Hamburg swearing at a heckler and asking him, “Are you gonna get a knife and (inaudible) me now?”

The comment recalled the stabbing of Monica Seles on the same court in 1993 by a spectator. Seles, then the world’s No. 1 woman player, has not been in a tournament since.

Officials said they were not planning any action.

Agassi received a warning for an obscene gesture in the last game of the match against Bruguera, ranked No. 12 and recovering from knee surgery. Agassi had six double-faults and 35 unforced errors.
