Having served the minimum five-year waiting period, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will be inducted today into the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass.
Joining Abdul-Jabbar will be USC great Cheryl Miller plus former Old Dominion star Anne Donovan, former Soviet coach Aleksandr Gomelsky, the late referee Earl Strom and a Minneapolis Lakers combo of coach John Kundla and forward Vern Mikkelsen.
In his 20-year pro career, Abdul-Jabbar scored a record 38,387 regular-season points. He won three NCAA titles at UCLA, six in the NBA (five with the Lakers) and played more games (1,797) than any player in NBA history.
