David Justice assured Atlanta Manager Bobby Cox before the game he was ready to play then went out and proved it.

“I think I did pretty good,” Justice said after driving in four runs with four hits, including a two-run home run, as the Braves had 20 hits to defeat the Colorado Rockies, 15-3, Tuesday at Atlanta.

“I’d just take this three times a week for the whole season,” Justice said.

It was only the fourth victory in the last 12 games for the Braves, who lifted their overall mark against Colorado to 23-2, including 11 of 12 at Atlanta.

“I thought they were not hitting,” Colorado Manager Don Baylor said. “They only hit when we come to town. They kick you every way, at will. They do whatever they want to do. I just want to know how much more embarrassing can it be, 30 to nothing?”

Philadelphia 9, Florida 7--The Phillies scored two runs in the 10th inning, shaking off Gary Sheffield’s game-tying grand slam with two out in the ninth to win at Miami.

The Phillies scored in the 10th on a run-scoring groundout by Mickey Morandini and a run-scoring single by Dave Hollins.

Heathcliff Slocumb (1-0), who leads the majors with eight saves, served up Sheffield’s home run but got the victory by working the 10th.

Montreal 7, Cincinnati 3--Rookie Shane Andrews hit a two-run home run and Carlos Perez won his second consecutive start to lead the Expos at Montreal.

Perez (2-0) gave up two runs on four hits, struck out four and walked one before leaving in the sixth inning. Mark Grudzielanek and Tony Tarasco also homered for Montreal, while Wil Cordero added four hits and Roberto Kelly had three.

New York 1, Houston 0--Bobby Jones held Houston to three hits over seven innings at the Astrodome for his third consecutive victory and the Astros’ fourth loss in a row.

Jones (3-1) didn’t yield a hit after the third inning and has allowed two earned runs in his last 30 innings. He finished with five strikeouts and five walks. Doug Henry pitched two hitless innings to record his first save.

Chicago 2, San Francisco 0--Jamie Navarro held the Giants to three hits in 8 2/3 innings at San Francisco, as the Cubs (12-6) matched their best start since 1985.

Navarro (4-0) struck out six and walked none before giving way to Randy Myers, who gained his sixth save by pitching the ninth.

San Diego 1, St. Louis 0--Eddie Williams’ single scored Tony Gwynn in the bottom of the ninth inning for the Padres at San Diego.

Gwynn led off the ninth with a single off Jeff Parrett (1-1) and took second on a wild pitch. Williams followed with a single for the Padres, who have won 11 consecutive home games against the Cardinals since 1992.
