NORTHRIDGE : PTA to Raise Funds With Fair, Auction
The Calahan Street Elementary School PTA will hold a community fair Saturday to raise funds for school computers, library supplies and a security lighting system.
The event, called the “Calahan Round-Up,” also will serve as an informal reunion for Calahan alumni.
The fair will include a chili cook-off, live country music, barbecue chicken dinners for sale and a variety of Western-style activities.
Most of the funds will be raised during a silent auction at the fair, featuring such items as a hockey stick autographed by Los Angeles Kings star Wayne Gretzky, autographed scripts from the “Coach” and “Star Trek--Deep Space Nine” television shows, musical instruments and dinner packages.
Artwork celebrating the history of the school and of the Northridge area will also be on display.
The event is scheduled from 4 to 8 p.m. on the school grounds, 18722 Knapp St., Northridge. Admission is free. For additional information, call (818) 886-4612.
