PORT HUENEME : Red Cross Chapter Picks Top Volunteer

The Ventura County chapter of the American Red Cross has selected a Port Hueneme man as its volunteer of the year.

Scott Rennie, a Navy petty officer first class, was honored during the Ventura County chapter’s annual meeting in Oxnard this week.

Rennie began his Red Cross volunteer work in 1984 and has taught more than 500 health and safety training courses. He has also instructed trainers for the course.

He has taught several other courses, including HIV/AIDS education, first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

The chapter also gave its Leadership Award to Jack Futoran.

Sandy Marks and Richard Rink were given Service Excellence awards for their full-time work as Red Cross staff.

Meanwhile, Paul Chatman was chosen chairman of the Ventura County chapter board of directors for fiscal year 1995-96.
