A 20-year-old man was arrested Monday for a 1991 drive-by shooting after investigators noticed him driving a car in the east San Fernando Valley, authorities said.

Ysidro Ramirez, 20, of Pacoima was arrested on suspicion of murder at 8 a.m. when he was stopped by investigators who recognized him as he drove near Kagel Canyon and Beachy Street in Arleta, said Detective Frank Bishop of the Los Angeles Police Department.

“He knew that he was wanted and went peacefully,” Bishop said.

The murder charge stems from the drive-by shooting of Clinton Peterson, 20, of Mission Hills on Feb. 21, 1991, Bishop said.

Peterson was standing with a group of friends at Brand Park in Mission Hills at 2:21 p.m. when the then 16-year-old Ramirez shot him after he mistook him for a rival gang member, Bishop said.

Peterson died from his wounds a few days later at a local hospital, he said.
