THOUSAND OAKS : School Psychologists Will Honor Amgen
A Thousand Oaks biotechnology firm will be honored for its commitment to education at a dinner sponsored by the Ventura County Assn. of School Psychologists.
Amgen has consistently donated dollars and sponsored education programs designed to encourage students and educators to learn about science and modern biotechnology, said Barbara Lewis Mill, an association spokeswoman.
Amgen provides science grants for teachers from kindergarten through 12th grade in Ventura County and gives scholarships and internships to undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students, Mill said.
The award will be presented at the association’s annual barbecue, set for Friday at the James Cowen Conference Center in Camarillo. For more information, call Patricia McGovern at 487-3918, Ext. 519.
