Woman Killed Crossing Street; Driver Booked
A 49-year-old Woodland Hills woman was killed after she was hit by a car while crossing Ventura Boulevard, police said Wednesday.
The driver, Shahram Rastegar, 26, of Tarzana, stopped briefly and then drove off after hitting Edna Doustani at 10 p.m. Tuesday near Paralta Avenue, Los Angeles Police Sgt. Fred Meck said.
Rastegar turned himself in to the LAPD’s West Valley station, where he was booked on suspicion of leaving the scene of an accident, Meck said.
Doustani had been jaywalking when she was struck by Rastegar, who was driving east. She was taken to Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in Woodland Hills, where she was pronounced dead at 10:20 p.m.
